What we Do

Paint for a Change is a non-profit organization that was established on 2023 in Nicaragua by Omara Garcia. This organization is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children facing mental health challenges due to their hospitalized conditions. By harnessing the power of artistic expression, we provide a transformative platform for these children to release their emotions and find solace from the burdens of stress.

In a world where mental health awareness is gaining prominence, we strive to stand out as a beacon of hope and healing. Understanding that children often struggle to articulate their emotions verbally, this organization recognizes art as a powerful medium for self-expression. Through a variety of artistic endeavors such as painting, drawing, and sculpting, these young individuals are encouraged to tap into their inner creativity, enabling them to explore their emotions in a safe and supportive environment.

Meet the Founder

Hi there! My name is Omara Garcia, and I am the founder of Paint for a Change. I was only 16 years old when I started this project, and I created it because of how much I wish to create an impact on others. I have always been a person that adores helping whoever I can; whether that is in school, with my friends and family, or my community. In order to help others in the best way possible, I resorted to a skill that I absolutely love, which is art. Not only has art always been an outlet for my creative expression, but it is also a way for me to relieve stress and let go. This is why I chose it to help kids, since I personally knew that it could be a great way to unwind, express, or simply have fun.

When I first conceptualized Paint for a Change, I envisioned a platform where children facing mental health problems could experience the therapeutic benefits of art. Having experienced firsthand how art can serve as a powerful outlet for my own emotions, I wanted to share that gift with others who may be struggling silently.

Art, to me, is more than just a visual representation. It is a language that transcends barriers, allowing individuals to communicate and express themselves in ways that words often cannot. It has the remarkable ability to unlock emotions, unleash creativity, and promote healing. With this understanding, I set out to create an organization that would empower children, giving them the tools and support they need to navigate their own emotional journeys.

Together, we are creating an environment where children can heal, grow, and thrive through the transformative power of art.
